Couple on motorcycle killed in Florida semi-truck accident

With the nicer weather in Florida recently, some motorcycle enthusiasts took to the road to enjoy some time out in the open air. For many of them, those rides were probably uneventful. Sadly, for one couple, taking a ride with a group of bikers ended up being the last thing they would do.

The accident occurred on State Road 415. The couple was in a construction zone going south with a group of 35 bikers who take a weekly ride together. A tractor-trailer carrying a spool of wire was heading northbound on the same road. The spool of wire hit the couple head-on after coming off the truck and bouncing on the road. Friends of the couple who were killed in this truck accident said that the couple lives in Quebec but spends the winters in Florida.

The semi-truck carrying the spool of wire didn’t stop when the accident occurred at around 11:30 in the morning. Instead, it continued on and didn’t come back to the scene until around 1:45 that afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that charges are pending. For the family members of the victims, those charges might bring some peace. The family might also decide to pursue compensation for the death of their loved ones. Understanding the processes for seeking compensation for damages might help them to decide how to proceed. If damages are awarded, the family members might get some financial relief from the costs associated with the final expenses and other expenses related to the accident.
