An accident recently occurred on Interstate 95 in Hallandale Beach as a result of road debris. The auto accident occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 at SW 10th Street. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 15-foot long wood beam fell off the back of a pickup truck and smashed into the windshield of a car that was driving down the road. The piece of wood reportedly bounced on the road before piercing the windshield of the car that was driving behind the truck.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was transported to Broward Health North. Although the driver of the pickup truck was uninjured, he was charged with failure to secure load/dropping load.
Car accidents can result in a variety of consequences for all parties involved. They can lead to increased insurance rates, vehicle repair costs, injuries, fines and jail time. The severity of the consequences can be influenced by a variety of factors such as who was at fault in the accident, whether any sort of intoxication or drug influence was present at the time of the accident, and whether any traffic laws were broken that contributed to the accident. Additionally, if anyone was harmed or killed in the accident, then the charges become more severe.
In situations where people are involved in auto accidents, one or both parties may sue the other for personal injury. For example, in addition to the charge that the driver of the pickup truck faces for having an unsecure load, he may also be facing civil charges from the injured driver of the car seeking compensation for his injuries and hospital bills. Florida personal injury lawyers may help those involved in car accidents pursue compensation for their injuries.
