One of the most important aspects of a safe driver is their awareness of their surroundings. Motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians are common on all Florida roads. A recent auto accident on Interstate 75 shows how dangerous a driver’s lack of awareness for their surroundings can be.
The accident occurred on Interstate 75 in Sun City Center around 8 a.m. A 19-year-old woman driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra was attempting to change lanes when she saw three Cape Coral men on Harley Davidson motorcycles. She tried to avoid a collision with the motorcycles, but she overcorrected and lost control of her car. As a result, her car collided with two of the men. The third man ran into the back the car. The car continued into the center grass median and hit the guardrail. The motorcycles also ended up on the median.
The motorcyclists were aged 63, 61 and 60. All of the men were injured and taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. The injuries to the 63-year-old and 60-year-old who were struck by the car were believed to be serious. The 61-year-old who hit the back of the car sustained only a minor injury. The Nissan’s driver was not hurt.
The driver’s actions have allegedly resulted in injuries to three people, two of them believed to be serious. Because their medical expenses, property damage and any other losses were allegedly due to the other driver’s actions, they may have the right to be compensated for their losses. If they have questions about how much is a fair amount to be compensated for their damages, an attorney with experience in personal injury may be able provide an answer.
