FedEx truck runs light and hits bus in Miami

Earlier this week an accident involving a FedEx truck and a Miami-Dade Metrobus occurred. The incident unfolded at the intersection of 17th Street and NW 7th Avenue in central Miami. Reportedly, the FedEx truck ran a red light and hit the bus. At the time, the bus was transporting passengers along Route M.

Though only two vehicles were involved in the collision, because one of them was a bus, a large number of people were actually in the incident. As a result of the accident, 23 of the 30 people onboard sustained injuries that required treatment. Though the extent of the injuries is unknown, stretchers and backboards were necessary for at least two of the passengers. Another passenger who was taken to the hospital, a 16-year-old girl, was already in a wheelchair at the time of the incident.

The driver of the FedEx truck was not injured in the collision.

In a situation such as this when so many people are hurt by another person’s negligent behavior, it is highly likely that some personal injury lawsuits will be filed. These civil lawsuits are a way to try to hold the responsible party accountable financially for their negligent actions. When a claim is successful, the plaintiff may be able to recover compensation for such things as pain and suffering, lost wages and medical bills.

Most personal injury lawsuits are complicated and it is important to act in a timely manner. For that reason, it is a good idea to work with an attorney who has experience with personal injury cases.
