A total of seven people were involved in a car accident the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 22, in the Miami area. A pickup truck and Lexus collided near Southwest 162nd Avenue and 200th Street. An occupant of one of the vehicles was ejected as a result of the accident.
Both Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Police reported to the scene of the car accident where one person died. Two people, an adult and child, were transported via helicopter to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The remaining four occupants were treated at the scene.
There are many potential causes of car accidents. Some involve negligence on the part of the driver such as speeding, distracted driving or reckless driving. In other cases, mechanical problems with the vehicle are to blame. There are also times where external factors such as icy roads, or heavy rain or fog are to blame.
When someone else is to blame for an injury or death resulting from a car accident, a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit may be appropriate. These are civil remedies where an injured party or the loved ones of a person who died are compensated for their injuries or loss. In a personal injury case, damages may be available for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. While money will never erase the lasting injuries or loss of a loved one, it may help in making it easier to move forward.
Details surrounding the cause of the crash have not been released and the accident is under investigation.
