It is a reality we all face. Every day people throughout the state of Florida are injured in car accidents. Some are only minor fender benders, but others can cause serious injuries that may even lead to death.
Last month the president of the Florida Marlins organization made an unexpected stop on his way to view the team’s new ballpark that is currently under construction near downtown Miami. The stop was a result of witnessing a fatal accident on Florida’s Turnpike.
According to the Marlin’s president, a red utility truck transporting equipment utilized when cutting grass along the side of the road, was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The morning accident occurred near the turnpike’s junction with Interstate 595.
Despite several Good Samaritans, including the Marlin’s president and the driver of the utility truck, attempting to aid the man driving the pickup, he died at the scene while still trapped in the pickup truck’s cab. Fortunately, the man who was driving the utility truck did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
Rear-end accidents are one of the most common types of accidents and can be caused by a myriad of reasons. Likewise, the outcome of such a crash varies widely as well, from no injuries at all, to brain injuries that result from the organ being violently slammed into the interior of the skull. In this case it is unclear what caused the pickup to hit the utility truck. Whatever the cause however, any loss of life is tragic.
