Suspect in Sweetwater hit-and-run still at large

Hit-and-run accidents can cause major damage and/or serious personal injury. A recent incident in Sweetwater, Florida, reinforces this unfortunate reality. During a routine traffic stop, the suspect jumped back into the car and took off, firing a weapon at police as he did so. During his escape attempt, the driver crashed into not one, but two other vehicles, causing one to roll over. The driver then left his auto and jumped into a nearby canal.

Family of woman killed in car accident awarded $8.8 million

Last month the family of a woman who died in a 2008 car accident in Miami was awarded $8.8 million, by a Miami-Dade County jury, in a wrongful death lawsuit. NFL sued by former players over brain injuries

A dozen former National Football League players have sued the NFL for failing to prevent or mitigate their brain injury when the League knew that concussions on the gridiron could lead to long-term brain injuries. One of the plaintiffs is a former Florida player who signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins but was released after a few months. The players’ lawsuit focuses on the use of the drug Toradol, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever.
