This past weekend a devastating series of motor vehicle accidents on a road in Florida resulted in the death of at least 10 people. The crashes occurred outside of Gainesville, on Interstate 75, early Sunday morning while it was still dark. Apparently the chain reaction crashes were due to the fact that drivers were unable to see the vehicles around them. Prior to the incident, the interstate had been shut down due to poor visibility.

Most car accidents people hear about in the news involve one vehicle hitting another vehicle on a road. While few involve inanimate objects such as houses, they do occasionally happen. When a motorcycle makes contact with a car or truck it is not uncommon for the person riding the motorcycle to sustain serious injuries. This is mainly due to two things. The first is the size of the motor vehicle compared to a motorcycle. The second is the lack of protection a motorcyclist has in an accident. Even someone with a helmet and protective clothing is lacking compared to someone in a car equipped with

Hit-and-run accidents can cause major damage and/or serious personal injury. A recent incident in Sweetwater, Florida, reinforces this unfortunate reality. During a routine traffic stop, the suspect jumped back into the car and took off, firing a weapon at police as he did so. During his escape attempt, the driver crashed into not one, but two other vehicles, causing one to roll over. The driver then left his auto and jumped into a nearby canal.
